2022-2023 School Year
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year (SY23)! Below you can find information on important changes happening in OSSD, including the Greyhound Exploration Day on August 4th, and our new bell schedules!
Due to changes in district transportation procedures, OSSD has adjusted several school start and dismissal times for the 2022-2023 school year. Please click on a campus below to visit their info page. The adjusted bell schedules can be found on the right side of the page.
In order to accommodate our growing student population, OSSD has elected to adjust school bus routes and bell schedules for all seven campuses for the 2022-2023 school year. Our transportation department will be operating on a 3-tier bus system, which will require fewer buses and bus drivers but will increase start times between our schools. OSSD previously operated on a 2-tier system.
Tier 1 - OSUE (grades 4-6)
Tier 2 - Oak Park, Magnolia Park, & Pecan Park (K-3)
Tier 3 - OSMS & OSHS (grades 7-12)
Pre-K route remains unchanged.
This new system also means your student’s bus route and bus stop will most likely change. You can click below to find your student's bus route for 2022-2023.
ABOUT GREYHOUND EXPLORATION DAY: Ocean Springs School District is excited to introduce Greyhound Exploration Day for our students before they embark on a new journey in school. The goal of this transition day (Thursday, August 4th, 2022) is to provide our kindergarten, 4th grade, 7th grade, and 9th grade students with an additional school day to familiarize themselves with their new campus and schedule.
Only students in transition grades (Kindergarten, 4th grade, 7th grade, & 9th grade) will attend school on this day, allowing for more personalized programming to help familiarize students and their families with their new campus and class schedule. All other students will start school on Friday, August 5th, 2022.
Our purpose will be to ensure a smooth transition to, and from, each school in OSSD. The programming and support planned will help our Greyhounds to be more confident in their new school environments, develop better connections with others, and ensure the implementation of services needed as students progress through our system.
