Mask & Health Protocols

1. Masks are optional for students and visitors inside OSSD buildings.
2. Signage is placed throughout all OSSD campuses reminding students and personnel of best health and safety practices, including hand hygiene.
3. Hand sanitizer will be provided by the district to every teacher and placed throughout buildings for easy access and use.
4. There are standardized sanitation protocols that will be completed based on COVID exposure. 
5. Any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be referred to the school nurse immediately. 
   1. Students, teachers, and staff should stay home when they have signs of any infectious illness and be referred to their healthcare provider for testing and care.
6. Per board policy JGCC, any student sent home for illness must be free from any fever for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school. 
7. Upon a positive COVID-19 test result, parents are strongly urged to complete the COVID-19 Reporting Form immediately.
    

Visitors on campus

As we continue to experience a high volume of COVID-19 cases among our students, faculty, and community, OSSD has elected to extend restricting visitor access to our schools during normal hours through Friday, February 18th, 2022. This is a necessary precaution to protect our students and staff, which remains our #1 priority.

All meetings and conferences will continue to be held virtually via zoom and/or by telephone. Attendance at after school athletic events and extracurricular activities will not be impacted.

OSSD plans to reevaluate this restriction again on February 18th. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to being able to welcome you back into our schools again soon.
 

High-Traffic Areas

1. Teachers and administrators on duty will encourage students to move through high-traffic areas as quickly as possible to minimize congestion.
2. Students should bring water bottles from home. Water fountains have been disconnected and bottle filling stations have been installed in all buildings. 
3. Hand sanitizer will be available in high-traffic areas. The custodial staff will complete routine cleaning and sanitization of our high-traffic areas.
    

Classroom Instruction

1. Students and teachers will continue to maintain 3 feet of physical distancing in the classroom when possible.
2. Routine cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms by custodial and designated staff will take place throughout the school day.
3. Students will be encouraged to wash hands or use hand sanitizer routinely.
4. All grade levels will utilize Schoology, an online learning management system, to ensure students who miss school have access to materials online.
5. OSSD has a 1:1 student:device ratio, meaning every student has an assigned Chromebook to use throughout the school year.
   1. If students are ill and need to check out a Chromebook, they are asked to contact their school.
       

PPE Supplies

1. PPE Requests will be available for teachers to complete on our district website.
2. Masks will be available at each site for those in need of one.
    

Bus Transportation

1. Masks will be required for all students and drivers.
2. Buses will be sanitized between routes.
    

Cafeteria & Child Nutrition

1. Tables & lunch lines will be sanitized between classes.
2. All students will be eligible for free breakfast & lunch, with no application requirement.
   1. While applications for free meals are not required, OSSD Child Nutrition encourages all parents to still fill out an online free or reduced meal applications, as these are updated yearly and assist OSSD in qualifying for funding to support our student programs. If a Student is Exposed to COVID-19

• OSSD is not requiring close contacts to quarantine, but if a student is determined to be a close contact to another individual (i.e. in-home family member) who tested positive for COVID-19, they may elect to quarantine. While a student is awaiting test results, their absences may be excused as an Administrative Absence. Parents must complete a form here. Please do not send your student to school while they are awaiting test results.
  • If a parent elects to quarantine their student, please provide medical documentation to the school to ensure your student's absences are excused.
    • A positive result may excuse all students within the home, pleas ensure you list all students on the documentation and submit it to all schools your students attend.
• If the parent elects not to quarantine, they may return to school as normal unless symptoms begin to appear.
   

If a Student Tests Positive for COVID-19

• Complete the COVID-19 exposure form on the district website. (Also located on the right side of this page).
  • The student’s school will notify close contacts of potential exposure. OSSD will never release the name or the results of a student or staff member who has tested positive.
• If a student tests positive and provides proof of results to OSSD, their absence will be documented as a “sick day.” This documentation may be submitted upon the student's return to school.
  • Documentation from a medical provider is required. The documentation should include the results of the testing and the date the student may return to school.
    • A positive result may excuse all students within the home, pleas ensure you list all students on the documentation and submit it to all schools your students attend.

What is considered fully-vaccinated?

• People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or ≥2 weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson). There is currently no post-vaccination time limit on fully vaccinated status. People are considered not fully vaccinated if they have not completed a two-dose vaccination series or have not received a single-dose vaccine, regardless of age, including children under the age of 12.

Outbreaks in a Classroom/Team

Reasons the quarantine period may be waved

1. Student is fully-vaccinated and provides documentation to their school.
2. Student has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days.
3. Student may skip the remainder of the quarantine period if they test negative for COVID-19 on day 5, 6, or 7. The student may return on day #8.

1. OSSD will continue to use SchoolMessenger, OSSDMS.org, and our social media accounts (@OSSDGreyhounds on Instagram & Twitter) to release information as it becomes available.
2. OSSD will continue to monitor local health recommendations from the MSDH & CDC, and will update procedures as necessary.
