OSSD to Implements Clear Bag Procedures at Sporting Events
In an effort to enhance safety and security for all student-athletes, coaches, and spectators, Ocean Springs School District has implemented the following clear bag requirements for all athletic events, effective Monday, August 24, 2026.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE APPROVED:
- Clear Tote (plastic, vinyl, or PVC and no larger than 12”x6”x12”)
- 1-Gallon Plastic Bag
- Clutch Purse (no larger than 4.5”x6.5”)
- Diaper Bags
Exceptions may be made for medical or other necessary items, such as diaper bags with infants or small children, after proper inspection.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED:
- Briefcases
- Backpacks
- Clear Backpack
- Duffel Bags
- Oversized Totes
- Mesh, Tinted, or Patterned Bags
- Reusable Grocery Totes
- Fanny Packs
Prohibited bags include but are not limited to:
- Purses larger than a clutch bag
- Luggage
- Computer bags
- Binocular cases
- Large seat cushions that exceed 16”
NOTE: All persons and bags are subject to inspection upon entry into OSSD facilities and events. Failure to consent or submit to inspection will result in denial of entry.
