OSSD Institutes Electronic Device Policy
Beginning with the start of the 2025-2026 school year on August 1st, all OSSD schools will begin implementation of OSSD’s new mobile device policy, JE - Cell Phone/Electronic Devices. Effective this year, students will not be permitted to use their personal mobile devices (including phones, smart watches, bluetooth headphones/AirPods, and personal tablets) while on campus for the instructional day.
OSSD recognizes the importance of integrating emerging technologies with the academic learning process. Our cell phone policy has been crafted to utilize such technology while providing a safe and orderly instructional environment. Students may possess cell phones on campus, but they must be used in accordance with school procedures.
This change is being made based on research indicating that mobile devices can be a major source of distraction for students during school hours. We have also found that the majority of our behavior issues on campus are tied to student mobile device usage. Click below to view the electronic device procedures for each campus:
