Magnolia Park Elementary Named 2024 National Blue Ribbon School
OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss (OSSD) -- U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today announced Ocean Springs School District’s Magnolia Park Elementary as one of the nation's 356 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024. This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides towards closing achievement gaps among different student groups.
Magnolia Park Elementary (MPE) is one of just four schools in Mississippi to be recognized as part of the 2024 class of awardees. This is the second time the school has won the prestigious award, the first since 2001.
“Just to be nominated for this award is a tremendous honor, but to be named as one of the awardees is a phenomenal achievement and could not have been possible without our students, staff, and supportive community,” says Alison Graham, Principal of MPE. “Being named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School is the latest evidence of the hard work of our students and staff each day to increase their level of proficiency in language arts and math.”
Each nominated school submits a comprehensive application detailing its school culture, curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership, family, and community involvement.
Up to 420 schools may be nominated each year. The Department of Education invites nominations for the National Blue Ribbon Schools award from the top education official in each state, like the State Superintendent of Education in Mississippi.
