Hurricane Ida Day Forgiven
OSSD will no longer be required to make up the day missed from Hurricane Ida.
OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss -- Following our announcement on Friday, August 28, 2021, Governor Tate Reeves signed a proclamation declaring a state of emergency for the State of Mississippi due to Hurricane Ida. This means that school days missed due to Ida would no longer be required by the State of Mississippi to be made up.
On Tuesday night, the OSSD Board of Trustees approved a request by the district to forgive the missed day due to Hurricane Ida. This means that OSSD will not be required to make up school on Thursday, October 7th, as was announced by OSSD prior to Governor Reeves’ state of emergency declaration. Severe weather permitting, October 7th will be a school holiday.
