Dr. Stewart Smirthwaite Named Principal of Oak Park Elementary
We are excited to announce that Dr. Stewart Smirthwaite has been named Principal of Oak Park Elementary, effective July 1! Dr. Smirthwaite takes the helm after working as Assistant Principal of OPES for the past three years
Prior to rejoining OSSD, Smirthwaite had prior stops in Pascagoula-Gautier School District and Moss Point School District, holding roles as Learning Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Smirthwaite previously worked at Oak Park Elementary as a Special Education teacher from 2007-2013.
Smirthwaite holds a M.Ed. and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his wife Sally, a graduate of OSHS, have two children that attend OSSD.
