OSSD Fan Code of Conduct

In order to ensure a safe and orderly environment for all of our student-athletes, coaches, and spectators, OSSD wants to remind you of the following guidelines for conduct at athletic events.

Athletic Guidelines

  1. Gates open 60-90 minutes before the scheduled start time of the event. Fans are not permitted in the facility prior to this time.
  2. An approved OSSD Athletics sideline pass is required for field access at all varsity football home games. Individuals without a pass will not be permitted to enter the field.
  3. Unauthorized vehicles parked in reserved or restricted parking areas are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.
  4. Students and fans are to remain seated in the bleachers or approved seating areas when not at the concession stand or restrooms. Loitering in walkways or other non-approved areas is prohibited.
  5. Per state law, weapons, tobacco, vape devices, and alcohol are strictly prohibited on OSSD grounds.
  6. All K-6 students must be accompanied by an adult at all times. K-6 students left unsupervised will be asked to call their parents to pick them up.

Fan & Student Game Conduct

  1. The use of profanity, abusive language, and obscene gestures is prohibited.
  2. Students are to remain in the bleachers or approved areas at all times.
  3. All K-6 students must be accompanied by an adult at all times. K-6 students left unsupervised will be asked to call their parents to pick them up.
  4. Students will not be allowed to congregate in front of the restrooms, concessions, under the bleachers, or sidewalks.

Students in violation of these rules will be required to call their parents to be picked up and are subject to school disciplinary action. Repeat offenders are subject to being banned from future extracurricular events.

Fans or students who are asked to leave an OSSD athletic event due to misconduct are subject to being banned from future athletic events.

Reminder: Students in attendance at, or participating in, any school district activity are subject to the rules and disciplinary consequences set forth by the student code of conduct. (See JCA - Student Conduct)

MHSAA Public Service Announcement

The team, coaches, cheerleaders, student body, and fans of Ocean Springs School District extend to each of you a big welcome. We are pleased that you could be here. The high school athletes that are performing tonight are friendly rivals as members of opposing teams. This basically is the theme of interscholastic athletics – the idea of friendly competition.

The visiting team in every interscholastic game is the guest of the home team, and they are expected to so be regarded and treated. Profanity and vulgar cheers are abusive to other spectators and also a reflection on your school and community. This type of behavior will not be tolerated and may cause your team or school to be placed on probation. People involved in this behavior will be asked to leave the area with no refund or re-entry and could possibly be banned from future contests.

The use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are strictly forbidden at all Mississippi high school activities. The officials are individuals who are assigned to administer the rules of the game according to the National Federation rules. Their experience and integrity qualify them for their part in this friendly interscholastic contest. This attitude of sportsmanship should be reflected by all spectators, no matter what their personal feelings of loyalty may be to one or the other teams in tonight’s contest.

A game managers conference has been held with administrators, coaches and officials to emphasize good sportsmanship. Remember, sportsmanship begins long before the contest starts and lasts long after the contest is over!

The MHSAA reminds you when leaving tonight’s game to buckle up and drive home safely.
