4th Graders Celebrate Black History Month at OSUE!
Miss Ridgeway's and Ms. Phillips's homerooms collaborated with OSHS's broadcast class to create a video project that focused on Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. The project began on MLK day and took about 2 weeks to complete. After reading and analyzing the speech, each child was assigned a line to memorize. Two senior students, Chloe Daves and Kendall Alford, filmed and edited the video. Mrs. Conerly, the broadcast instructor and her students support and talent helped to make the project a huge success. When asked what they learned from this project, many students confidently said, "Never judge a person by the color of their skin." One student added that he learned "It's our job to keep MLK's dream alive." These brave students delivered King's beautiful message with emotion and honesty - they have made their teachers so proud of them!
